BIRD'S EYE VIEW OF DISORDERS OF NERVOUS SYSTEM.

ENCEPHALO MYELO RADICUOPATHY. A broad term for any brain disease that alters brain functions.

Causes.. It includes infection, tumour, and stroke. Symptoms.. Declining ability to reason and concentrate, memory loss, personality change, seizures, and twitching are common symptoms.


MYELOPATHY.

A disorder that affects the spinal cord.


Causes & Types.


Cervical Myelopathy...Compression of the spinal cord in the neck.

Lumbar Myelopathy...A disorder that affects the spinal cord in the lower (lumbar) spine.

Thoracic Myelopathy....A disorder that affects the spinal cord in the middle(thoracic spine).


RADICULOPATHY.....It is by the pinching of the nerve roots and causes discomforts, weakness, and numbness in the corresponding area.

PERIPHERAl NEUROPATHY.....Peripheral nerve damage by injuries, infections, and exposure to toxins.

Symptoms...Weakness, numbness, and pain of its distribution area.

ENCEPHALON..MYELO..RADICULOPATHY

Acute severe central and peripheral nervous system combined involvement.



MENINGITIS..Inflammation of the brain and spinal cord membranes covering(meninges), typically caused by infection.


These are the broad terms used for the nervous disorders as per the area of the lesion. There are various disease names under each term as examples, which will occupy a large space. The doctor initially gives a provisional diagnosis in these terms by seeing the symptoms and will come to a specific disease after investigations. The contrast diagnosis is a herculean task in Neurological disorders as the signs and symptoms have close similarity in most of the cases.
